The Christmas Season is rapidly approaching and now is a great time to start making cards for friends and family, of course this is what I tell myself EVERY year, maybe this year I will actually send a handmade card. The card to the left will be made in my Christmas card worshop at Funkie Munkie Scraps on December 5th. I hope you can join me and several other avid card makers for a fun afternoon of Christmas card making.

New card featuring Stampers Anonymous stamps from the Tim Holtz collection

I made this vintage card with stamps from Tim Holtz collection sold by Stampers Anonymous. I went to the Winston-Salem stamp convention last weekend and was fascincated with the techniques demonstrated at the Stampers Anonymous booth. When I came home I logged onto Tim Holtz's website and there was more information on what I saw demoed at the convention. He has an awesome set of videos (www.timholtz.com) that are very informative. I hope you enjoy the eye candy.

Updated my photo

I updated my photo but of course now I think I should change it back. I took the headshot myself with my Iphone and THOUGHT I liked it. I will leave it up for a while until I change my mind again. I will have to get my photographer buddy to take a head shot of me in the very near future.

Have had a very busy week at work, lots of sick people and lots of maintenance meds handed out. Have not stamped much, but I did make it into my room to rearrange some of my stuff. Completed a few tasks , such as consolidating all of my inks into drawers and finding a home for my Stickles and finally discovering I had lots of colors of liquid pearls, so now I don't need to buy any. Hubby is grateful for that one. I scanned some cards into Paperport for later uploading and most importantly looked at the new Stampin Up catalog. Saw a lot of new things I would like to purchase but do I need another stamp?? Of course I do!! I repeat, I am hopelessly addicted.

I found some border stamp sets at Wally-world in the craft section, new release by Stampology. Very good price, $4.00, had to have them all. Would you say I need a 12 step program????

Upcoming Events

I would like to announce a new weekly happening at Funkie Munkie Scraps. I will be doing a weekly make and take on Wednesdays. I will be using supplies that are available at FMS. All you need to do is bring your own adhesive and scissors. This will start on 7/15. I am excited about doing this because I have not been stamping lately and this will get me going again. I feel the need to be creative. Along with the weekly make and take I will also be doing a couple of classes this month. Look for a class featuring a Hero Arts stamp set and a 10 cards for 10 dollars coming very soon. Due to the amount of prep time, I do require a minimum of 5 people for the 10 for 10 and a minimum for 4 for the Hero Arts classes.

I hope everyone had a wonderful July 4th. I know we did. We celebrated with friends and of course ate delicious barbecue.

Hero Arts Card

This is a SIMPLE card I made using Hero Arts stamps that are sold at FUNKIE MUNKIE SCRAPS. I even used COPIC MARKERS. I am a novice at these markers but this is not stopping me from collecting them. Stephanie just restocked them today (5/8/09) if you NEED additional colors. Anyway, I made a standard A2 card put a white layer in an embossing folder, ran it through the Cuttlebug, stamped green layer using Meadow ink by Ranger. Used a lighter green paper stamped it with flower, colored with copic marker and added stickles. Easy peasy. I like making cards that are simple and elegant. I love flowers, stickles, rhinestones and ribbon and these are elements usually found on my cards.

Venice scrapbook layout.

This is a layout that I CASE'd from Bazzill papers. I used Making Memories patterned papers and Quikutz die cuts. This was a simple layout to get me in the scrapbook groove. Whenever I do decide to do a page it takes me HOURS. Since I had the Bazzill photo to go from this layout did not take long at all. I also had most of the supplies they used so that made it even better.
This photo was taken in Venice, Italy in 2005--would you say I am BEHIND with my scrapping????

This is my creative space. I have a nice size room in the basement of our house. My dear husband worked very hard on this room. He painted the cabinets, tiled the desktop and most importantly supplied me with internet access. What did we do without it.

If you were not at Funkie Munkie for National Scrapbook Day activities you missed a great time. Stephanie (owner) and Lisa M. (store manager/sister -in-law) and her sister Kim did a wonderful job hosting a fantastic weekend. Lots of fun was had by all, lots of prizes given away, and lots of purchases were made(prices were hard to pass up). I met lots of new people and saw some old friends that I had not seen in awhile. Kim was the official photographer and you can see all of the photos on the Funkie Munkie Scraps blog. Lisa was on prize patrol duty and limped happily along for most of the day (she unfortunately has a broken foot). Myself with other members of the design team did make and takes all day. All in all it was an awesome day.

Over the course of the NSD activities, Stephanie displayed a talent I did not know she had. She has an awesome memory. I observed her calling so many people by name. I asked her about this skill and she stated she learned it from her Father. I think this is such an important attribute. People love to be remembered. You can always expect great service when you visit Funkie Munkie Scraps. Stephanie and Lisa work really hard to earn and keep your business.

My first post.

This is my first attempt at a blog post. I must say that I am computer challenged and I found the activity of setting up the blog to be a lot easier than I thought. I am new member of the Funkie Munkie Design Team and the first thing Stephanie (the owner) says I need a blog and respond by saying I have no idea how to set up a blog. She then pointed me in the direction of Blogspot. I enjoy reading others blogs, seeing the wealth of creativity that exists in the card making and scrapbooking worlds. Never thought I would do my own. I hope to share my artwork, ideas and general love of all things card making with those who stop by my little blogspot.

National Scrapbook Day is rapidly approaching (5/02/2009) and lots of exciting things are going on at the Funkie Munkie. Stephanie has planned at Preview Night (5/01) and I will doing a class- 10 card for 10 dollars. The cards I have designed are quick, easy, and elegant-using a minimum amount of supplies. I will also be doing card classes featuring Hero Arts beginning in mid-May, be sure to look for them.
