Welcome to SOC's 8th Anniversary Blog Hop! I'm glad you stopped by for the celebration! If you're dropping by from Cheryl's blog,(onecraftyncpeach.blogspot.com) then you're in the right place! However, if you started here, you can visit the SOC E:spire blog to join this party from the beginning!
To commemorate Scraps of Color's 8th birthday, I, along with some talented papercrafters, have teamed up to share projects based on the celebrations in our lives. We wanted to have this special blog hop to celebrate this great crafting community where we laugh, play, and create together and encourage and inspire one another. Of course, a blog hop isn't complete without blog candy! There will be giveaways on various blogs throughout the hop! Plus there will be a SOC blog hop gift awaiting one visitor!! To be eligible for that prize, you must comment on all the blogs by Monday, Oct. 8 at 11pm EST. From all who are eligible, one lucky reader will be randomly drawn. The winner will be posted on all the participating blogs on Wednesday Oct.10.

Have been busy!
No updates in a while, sad to say, but I have been working on some upcoming projects. I am participating in my first blog hop, starting 10/5/2012. The blog hop is in recognition of the 8 year anniversary of Scraps of Color. I will also be offering a prize, for those who leave comments on my blog during the blog hop. More details to come as it gets closer. I am also teaching a Christmas card class on Thursday at Scrappin Time, my local scrapbook store. Since I am addicted to Authentique, the cards are made with their " Festive" Christmas line. I will post them after the class.

I won a challenge!!!
I just received notice from www.memascrafts.blogspot.com that the card that I entered into the just words challenge was randomly selected as a winner. Too excited. I chose digi images from Mo Manning. Have not had much experience with digi stamps but I suppose it is time for me to learn! The card above is my winning creation.

Wildflower Garden stamps by Hero Arts
These are some cards I made using the Hero Arts Wildflower Garden stamp set. Hero Arts is one of my all time favorite companies. I love their stamps, they seem timeless or it is that everything old becomes new again.
Lively Scrapbbok Layout
This is a layout I did today with Lively by Authentique. These photos were taken several years ago but since I had a pink shirt on and it coordinated with the paper I decided to use them. I normally print my photos in black and white but I had these left over from before I converted to black and white. This layout will be on display at Scrappin' Time. I scraplifted this from the current issue of Scrapbooks, etc. I changed it up a bit. Its funny, the magazine says you can complete this layout in 20 minutes, 2 hours later I am finished. My scrapbooking has always taken a back seat to card making but I am trying to expand my horizons.

Lively by AUTHENTIQUE
Can you tell I love Authentique Papers??? These are some cards from the Lively line. I gave a sneek peek in an earlier post. The woodgrain stamp is from Kaisesr craft, of course the butterfly is Martha Stewart, leaf die is from Sizzix. The green patterned paper "backdrop" is also by Authentique. Stamps are by Tim Holtz.

I am currently on the design team at Scrappin' Time in Inman, SC. Kathy the ever so cheerful store manager has given me the task of making a display board with the a new line of Authentique Paper. I am a huge fan of Authentique, hopefully I can come up some great cards. Here is a picture of the new line.Do not think it is availabe in stores yet.

Finally an update....
I have woefully neglected my blog.... have had no desire to stamp or scrap. My hobby room has had few visits over the last few months. Life has really gotten in the way of my hobby. I finally realized I needed my craft. I had a stressful few days at work and on a day off I ventured into my hobby room and created a few cards. I felt so relaxed and my mind was freed. The stress was lifted, I was once again able to enjoy the hobby I so dearly love.
I made several cards featuring the Glory line from Authentique Paper. I love their papers and stickers. On the Authentique blog they had several samples so I started my cards based on the samples. I made a total of seven cards, three of them very similar to the cards posted on the blog and 4 of my own designs. This time of year, red, white, blue, stars and stripes are so appropriate.

Anniversary in Lisbon, Portugal
My husband Adolphus and I celebrated 19 years of marriage in December. He "surprised" me with a trip to Lisbon. It was not really a surprise, because he forgot and left his email open while we were both looking at his iPad, I pretended I did not see anything. The hotel reservation was there for me to read, could not look away. Anyway this is a photo of us at the Castle St. George high above the city. It was a fun trip with lots of good food, rest and relaxation.

A New Year
Once again the New Year has arrived and all the resolutions have come and gone along with all the celebrations, visits from family and time off from work. Life has been busy with work and family with little time for stamping and scrapbooking. Somehow I did find time to make a project today that was initially created by Keisha Campbell. Her blog is called A Bit East. She is an awesome cardmaker, scrapbooker, home decorator, and photographer. I love her style and I borrowed a little(really a lot) when I created my version.
I have a cousin, who is fighting breast cancer, so far she is winning her battle. She has shown incredible courage and grace throughout her illness. I decided to make this project for her to let her know I am thinking of her and wishing her continued strength on her journey to defeat cancer.
